The Subsidiary Body for Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA), which advises the Conference of the Parties (COP), meets several months before each COP. Negotiations on the first protocol to the Convention, implemented by the Ad Hoc Biosafety Working Group (BSWG), were concluded in January 2000. Healthy ecosystems support water supply and quality and protect against water-related risks and disasters. The conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity can therefore be considered fundamental for the entire 2030 Agenda. Prior to the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) on biodiversity held in Hyderabad, India in 2012, preparations for a global vision of biodiversity involving old and new partners, based on the experience of the World Wide Views on Global Warming, began. CBD COP 15 will review the implementation and implementation of the CBD Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020. The final decision on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework is also expected to be taken, as well as decisions on related issues such as capacity-building and resource mobilization. The 15th Meeting of the Parties will take place in the second quarter of 2021 in Kunming, China. The meeting is expected to “adopt a post-2020 global biodiversity framework as a springboard for the 2050 vision of `Living in Harmony with Nature`. The CBD provides an important framework for the integration of Australia`s natural resources and environmental and biodiversity management policy. SbSTTA-5 delegates met in two working groups.
